Soil Testing

Soil testing is an important method in caring for newly planted trees because it tells a lot about the makeup of the soil surrounding a tree. Important decisions for meeting a trees needs can be made with this information. To test the soil around a newly planted tree, a sample should be taken from the area just outside of where the roots were planted.

Nevada Tree, a Las Vegas tree service, can tell many things from soil testing, including the pH, soil type, concentration of important nutrients, and percentage of organic matter in the soil. This information will be used to determine the need for adding nutrients or adjusting the pH of the soil. It can also show how much water is filtering through the soil around the tree.

If you have any questions or need soil testing done around your trees, contact Nevada Tree at 702-433-4700.

Drought conditions in 2012 affected over half the country, especially people in the southwestern states like Nevada. The forecasts for 2013 predict that these drought conditions will continue. In the Las Vegas tree service industry, we see many immediate effects that can be seen of drought, such as wilting leaves and drooping branches. For many trees, however, the worst symptoms may be yet to come. Older, hardier trees can withstand drought conditions like a lack of water and nutrients for a time, but extended drought will affect the health of the trees. Some of the potential problems include root damage, which leads to stunted growth, and insect infestations which take advantage of a trees weakened state.  It is important to closely observe trees that are affected by drought and take steps to properly care for them.  If you have any questions please contact Nevada Tree service at 702-433-4700.

Biochar is simply charcoal that is used for particular purposes, mainly as a soil amendment. Biochar helps increase soil fertility by its carbon elements. It can endure in soil for thousands of years. It is helpful for plants that require an elevated pH to grow properly. This concept has been recently re-introduced to the market as an effective tree care option.

Many times, trees can start dying, even if they are receiving the right care. Why is this? Invasive Insects can hive in your tree and literally destroy it from the inside. The most common Invasive bug in Nevada is what is known as a Borer. The only effective way to save your tree is to poison the insect and to do it in a timely manner. Otherwise you may ultimately be required to remove the tree.

Soil Related Problems

An estimated 80% of shade tree disorders can be attributed to the soil environment. Yet, tree disorders often go undetected because the symptoms are similar to those from unfavorable environmental conditions and pests. Nevada Tree Service can recommend treatment for trees that are struggling to thrive.

Christmas, the season of gifts marks the presence of Christmas Trees in almost all the homes and the festivity of Christmas is incomplete without a naturally living Christmas tree. A Christmas tree glowing with colorful lights and candles, decorated beautifully with sparkling stuffs, ornaments and garlands all around, is basically an evergreen, naturally alive coniferous tree.

For majority of people, celebrating Christmas with the family starts by choosing a healthy growing tree to decorate splendidly. Just know few important things that a living coniferous tree requires –

  • Cut about a quarter or a half inch at the bottom of the tree
  • Apply water to it within 6 hours after the cut
  • Use suitable tree cradles or stands to affix the base of the tree firmly
  • Ensure that the bottom of the tree is not covered with dirt
  • Provide enough watering space & keep the tree at a correct temperature
  • Place the tree in a safe location

Finally decorate it with glittering stars, colorful small objects, silver & golden colored hanging balls, some colorful tiny balls, etc.

Clean tools, healthy trees

So I am sure that many of you have seen the same types of ads placed in different places…you know for unlicensed inexpensive tree services. Or your landlord might send someone over that will just chop and chop your trees! Plus their tools are most likely not sanitized. This has happened to many people in the valley. PLUS they may leave the palm fronds on the drive for you to pick up and discard of.

These types of services….they can do more harm than good. Spread diseases throughout your tree and end up costing your more than what you paid. Think of it this way..would you go to an unlicensed Doctor? Don’t you want their equipment to be sanitized? The same is exactly true when you look for a tree service! Licensed, bonded, and sanitary! Plus we show up on time and have many letters from “Happy, Satisfied Customers!”
